FOUNDED 1978 — STILL ON THE SAME SLIP
My father, Captain Mike Lambrecht Sr., started Silent World in 1978 with a single idea: that a dive on a small reef should feel like a private appointment with the ocean, not a bus ride. We have stayed on the same Garden Cove Marina slip ever since. The dock has been repainted a few times. The boats have been re-engined. The reef out front has not moved.
We carry a maximum of six divers per boat — roughly half what the larger operators run — because a divemaster on a six-pack can actually watch six divers. Every open-water guest receives a buoyancy check before the first dive, and every charter departs with a licensed captain and a divemaster who has logged thousands of hours on these specific sites. In forty-six years and more than 180,000 guest dives, we have never had a reportable incident. That number is not a slogan. It is the quiet reason people keep coming back.

MOST POPULAR
Two guided dives on two different Upper Keys sites — Molasses, French Reef, or Elbow — chosen the morning of based on current and visibility. Tanks, weights, a divemaster, and a small boat that knows the mooring ball by heart.
FOR FIRST-TIMERS
A short pool-style briefing on the boat, then a supervised open-water dive to 40 feet on the reef. No prior certification required. Most guests are back in the water the next morning for another charter.
TAKE THE WHOLE BOAT
The boat, the captain, and the divemaster — for your family, your dive club, or a quiet anniversary morning on the reef. You pick the sites within our permit area; we pick the morning based on conditions. Catering available on request.
THE FLEET
We do not grow the fleet. We maintain it. The original Silent World has run out of this harbor since 1982; the two newer boats follow her tide schedule. Eleven PADI instructors and four USCG-licensed captains rotate between them.
THE FOUNDER IS STILL ON THE BOAT
Silent World has held PADI's Five-Star Instructor Development Center rating — the highest teaching designation PADI awards — for nineteen consecutive years. We train roughly 240 new open-water divers a year, and every one of them starts in the same classroom above the dock.
Before every open-water dive we run a 100% buoyancy check. Not a sticker on a card, a real check in shallow water with a divemaster watching. It is the unglamorous habit that, along with a $5 million liability policy and a Florida Dive Operator license (#DVE-002314), has carried us through 180,000+ dives without a reportable incident.
