Scuba divers describe the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most challenging, yet most rewarding course they’ve ever taken.


The PADI Rescue Diver course teaches you to prevent and manage problems in the water, and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed. During the PADI course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem-solving skills until they become second nature.

Course Duration: 2 Days

To enroll in this course you MUST be 12 years or older. You should be in good physical shape and be able to swim. You must complete a medical questionnaire and if necessary, see a physician to confirm you are fit to dive. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills. ​

PADI (Junior) Advanced Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old and have completed the Underwater Navigation Dive may enroll in a Rescue Diver course.

You also need to have Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.

During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem-solving skills until they become second nature. Rescue Diver Course Rates (ages 12+) – $450 + $125.00 (PADI e-Learning Code Fee)

What will you need?

As a PADI Rescue Diver you will need to complete the knowledge development course materials:

PADI online e-learning course. Online learning material must be fully completed prior to the first day of the class.

  • IF scuba related equipment is NEEDED for the duration of the course, we will be more than happy to provide it.

  • To include: Mask, snorkel, fins, buoyancy control device (BCD), regulator set, scuba tanks, and weights.

  • Gear needed: Basic scuba equipment and a pocket mask to practice in-water resuscitation. During exercises, you’ll work with an oxygen unit, floats, marker bouy’s and perhaps CPR mannequins.

    (We will explain the equipment that you need and may suggest additional gear, such as your own first aid kit, which will be useful throughout your diving career.)

Day 1:
Academic Session Review PADI knowledge development review and take the rescue diver final exam.

Rental Equipment:

  • Full Gear Rental (Mask, Snorkel, Fins, BCD, Regulator, Tanks, and Weights): $15 per day – $30 for both days
  • Wetsuit: $10 per day – $20 for both days
